Last week, Maya thought about a birthday gift for her grandfather. She overthought it for days and still could not decide. Finally, she sought help from her older brother, Leo. Leo lent her twenty dollars because she spent all her savings on concert tickets the month before.
On Saturday, they went to the market. Maya bought a fishing hat and a small box of hooks, because Grandpa taught both of them to fish when they were little. On the way out, two dogs fought over a piece of bread and ran into Maya. Her bag fell, and the hat rolled toward the street. Leo bent down and caught it just in time.
Before going home, Leo sent a message to their mother to say the gift was ready. That evening, everyone brought food to Grandpa’s house, and Maya gave him the hat. He smiled and said it was the best gift ever.
