Today, Doris is at the Grand Plaza Hotel for a job interview. She wants to work as a receptionist because she likes helping people and working in an office. She arrives early and waits in the lobby. The hotel is large and very busy. Many guests are checking in and checking out.

Mr. Thompson is the manager of the hotel. He invites Doris into his office and greets her politely. He has many questions for her because he wants to choose the right person for the job.

First, he asks about her skills. Doris answers calmly and with confidence. She’s very talented. She can speak English and French fluently. She can manage emails, update information, and handle reservations. She can answer many phone calls at the same time and talk to guests in a friendly way. Mr. Thompson listens carefully and takes notes. He’s happy because a receptionist has to be very organized and clear.

Doris has to wear a professional uniform every day and arrive on time. She also has to help guests with questions and give information about the hotel. In addition, she has to work on Saturdays and Sundays because the hotel never closes.
Luego, hablan sobre las obligaciones del trabajo. El señor Thompson explica que el hotel está muy ocupado todos los días. Los huéspedes llegan a cualquier hora. Doris listens and says, “I can work on weekends, no problem. I like working with people, and I’m responsible.” Mr. Thompson smiles because her answer shows commitment.
At the end of the interview, Mr. Thompson stands up and shakes her hand. He smiles and says, “Welcome to the team, Doris!”
