JUST:

Just significa “a short time ago” – hace poco tiempo.

Lo puedes usar con el Presente Perfecto o con el Simple Past.

EXAMPLES:

Question: Are the painters here?

Present Perfect: Yes, they’ve just arrived.

Simple Present: Yes, they just arrived.

2.

Question: Are you hungry?

Present Perfect: No, we’ve just had dinner.

Simple Present: No, we just had dinner.

3.

Question: Are the veterinarians in the clinic?

Present Perfect: No, sorry, they’ve just left.

Simple Past: No, sorry, they just left.

ALREADY:

Already significa “before expected” – antes de lo esperado.

Lo puedes usar con el Presente Perfecto y el Pasado Simple.

EXAMPLES:

Question: What time is the dentist coming?

Present Perfect: He’s already arrived.

Simple Present: He already arrived.

Present Perfect: It’s only 6:00 A.M. and we’ve already sold all the vegetables and fruit.

Simple Past: It’s only 6:00 A.M. and we already sold all the vegetables and fruit.

6.

Sentence: The new mail carrier is very polite.

Present Perfect: Yes, I know. I’ve already met him.

Simple Past: Yes, I know. I already met him.

YET:

Yet significa “until now” – hasta ahora.

Lo puedes usar con el Presente Perfecto y Pasado Simple.

Únicamente se usa con oraciones negativas y preguntas.

Se coloca al final de la oración.

EXAMPLES:

Present Perfect: No, they haven’t aired it yet.

Simple Past: No, they didn’t air it yet.

Present Perfect: No, I haven’t told him yet.

Simple Past: Did she go to the new grocery store yet?

PRACTICA CÓMO USAR JUST, ALREADY Y YET CON EL PRESENTE PERFECTO

EXERCISE 1:

Transforma estas oraciones en Present Perfect:

1. Did she was the dishes yet?
2. Did you tell your son to clean his room yet?
3. I just drank a big glass of orange juice, so I’m not thirsty.
4. Billy can play outside because he already did his homework.
5. You can’t go to school, you didn’t have breakfast yet.
6. I can’t talk to the secretary because she just went home.
7. Betty just had a baby, so she can’t go to work.

EXERCISE 2:

Transforma estas oraciones en Pasado Simple.

1. Have you given flowers to your girlfriend yet?
2. I haven’t eaten onion rings yet.
3. We’ve just spoken to the new manager.
4. Has Daniel bought a new car yet?
5. I haven’t told anyone I broke up with my boyfriend yet.
6. I’ve already made my bed.
7. He’s just run 2 miles and he feels great!
